Finally have access to see the designs on street, Thankyou.
But why isn’t there new seats going down in front of Target and Cheap as Chips as where seating is needed as sometimes people lean on window sill to rest. Tree guards and seating needed out front Target and cheap as chips yet in plan shows seating near Subway remains the same the seat currently there and one near cheap as chips is hazardous as no back on children or adults fall backwards can hurt self they are also too low for elderly to sit on not comfortable. The Southern end of street needs to have matching seating at both end of town not we will leave old seating it’s not a good look do a job right do seats where there are limited seats. Match the whole street like the Northern end street.
(Why put a seat with Tree guard near ANZ bank when you have seating already in Ennis is park close by. ) As seems you put too many seats in one area and none in another.
WHEEL CHAIR CARPARKS where are all of those located in BACK STREETS there is a need for a couple at least in Main Street, From NESS STREET TO FRONT ANZ BANK THE car parks there are wide enough for a couple WHEEL CHAIR car parks. So why would you bother shopping in Clare if you are limited on where you can park with disability or injury, back street parking but the idea of Wheel chair parking enables people to go shopping parking close to shops but Clare is limited to wheel chair friendly environment as you do not know how a disability affects you in life until you try going out in the community some shops a wheel chair can not access any shops in Main Street with a step or a couple steps make it hard for people to access shopping so maybe this needs to be addressed too would like to see how many shops a person in a wheel chair can and can’t access eg local shops which have step. IF YOU ARE IN A WHEEL CHAIR ON YOUR OWN CAN YOU ACCESS SHOPS Like the only electrical shop in Clare BETTA ELECTRICAL, VIETNAMESE CAFE, LIFE LINE, CLARE HAIR ON MAIN, PLAINS PRODUCERS OFFICE, SA COUNTRY CARERS, WILD SAFFRON, THE WINE tasting shop ( old engravers) ,MATHIE BUTCHERS, SPRINT AUTO PARTS but they have rear entrance to enter, SPEC SAVERS ( have aside access for easy access). So theses are a few places that maybe inaccessible for some people. Would like to see if you could get someone in a wheel chair on their own to access some places in Clare see how you go even elderly using wheels walkers have issues on access shopping as if we need to support our local community shopping first we need to be able to access shops. Is the up graded not worrying about our local community or is it about TOURIST not our locals who live here.

Judging by the example at the public drop in session, the new bike racks are going to be an expensive eyesore.

Basically, it is not too bad but I have some reservations on the practical side of things
Planting in the public area has been tried several times and has failed because of maintenance problems. It costs Shop owners are not interested in the main. See how many even neglect to keep the footpaths swept. Many would be really struggling. The gardener would need to spend much more time at keeping things fresh and vandals are always expensive
Much more impact IMO if the Northern approach was updated Remove the dead stumps ,replant the vacant sites removed in the last 30 years , remove and replace the Euc spathulatas which have been butchered and are now lifting the roads , replace the roses in Zonta gardens which were pulled up and feed them properly-that was once a solid sandstone hill - and exhibit a degree of pride in the town once known as the Garden of the North. Fix the footpaths to the High school which were cut up 40 years ago and have never been reinstated
I have grave misgivings on the proposal to narrow Blanche St which would limit the ingress and egress to the businesses behind and limit traffic trying to enter the various parks behind. It is illegal for traffic to do a right-hand turn from the north to enter Burton street!. I realize that the cafe on the corner would appreciate a sidewalk area but if you spend some hours watching traffic it would not be a safe place to sit--Try selling badges for a while!
It would be opportune for the council to cut back the growth over footpaths at many properties also sometimes covering 75% of the sealed walkway. When you observe 96-year-olds walking on the busy road because the path is too narrow you know there is a problem

Many of the visitors to Clare especially those with caravans and buses are directed to the car park off Gleeson St but they are not permitted to exit directly to the main street so must either return to Victoria Road or go via Blanche Street by Wild Saffron. This is currently not well signposted. Has allowance been made for long vehicles to turn on to Main North Road from Blanche Street, especially as it appears to be reduced to single lane in the plans. Can the car park off Gleeson Street be incorporated into the streetscape plans as this is where our passing trade arrives. Southbound traffic of siliar vehicles also needs to be considered. On the same topic, maybe we can improve the foot access from the car park to the main street which is not attractive to passing visitors. Signs to good coffee are a must.

This will improve the streetscape in Clare a great deal. It looks like an exciting place to be.

Just testing to see what the punters get. Think the project is brilliant of course.

Thank you for the opportunity to review the plans.
a first comment relates to the decorative items - for example - the plant holders. I would prefer some more vibrant colours rather than brown - feel we need brightening up approach.
the murals/wall art are a great idea and I hope we can commission some very interesting images.
I would prefer flowers and plants in the roundabout welcome mats. The are softer and prettier and much more welcoming in my view.
more plantings and glory vines would soften the whole effect too. Many of the towns in victoria are presented that way - and look very attractive.
I'm keen on the outdoor eating setting proposed but it is only outside one eatery. Are there other opportunities to build in these features?

I have just read through the draft streetscape plan and am so excited to see what has been suggested.
The ideas for introducing a cohesive and repeated style through out are brilliant along with the introduction of sculptures and wall art.
Will there be any recycling bins? Could these be adjacent to the general waste bins?
My other thought was regarding a bike lane - is there room? This would encourage more main street activity.
Many business operators are concerned about losing carparks. With over 30% of Austrtalians now 'obese' we are doing everyone a favour asking them to park and walk. When walking through the street it is then easy to be tempted by well dressed window displays to pop in to other shops aside from your intended destination. Small wheeled personal shopping trolleys can be used when making larger purchases eg fruit shop.
Congratulations on this concept and I look forward to the progress.

Thanks for letting us have our say. The sculptures that turn into light at night time out the front of the Middle are lovely, and create atmosphere at night. Murals on bland old walls are a nice idea, getting the community involved and running a competition with a public vote for the art would be great. Seeing recycled materials used as much as possible is a must for me, considering the current state of this planet. Native plants would also be nice, seeing connection to the indigenous people of this land through art/ signage on the history of the area. Recycling bins not only normal waste is important. Also a community garden/veggie plot with tables for gatherings. Signage on tourist attractions is lacking greatly in Clare. The museum in the old police station on the corner of Victoria rd is a huge draw card that in my opinion is not signed well. Clear signage with attractions in the area could be improved ie- kids attractions, loop map of wineries, parks etc. Round about “welcome mat” idea is great, something organic not so geometric would be nice. Looking forward to seeing the great work ahead :)

Love the murials for sides of buildings and greenery,Love the outside eating idea but, its on a side street, like Zest it is not visual to people driving through Clare. Same with the parks, when people drive trough they dont see the parks, , You need something to highlite them, Dont know what but they need to be visual from street. The lake and trains could be a highlight, but lake needs to be kept filled and lawns green and signage advertising it , maybe not in street but where people will entre, say near caravan park and nth end just as you come into town.. Also Taminga has greenery outside already. Thats nice.but building next to it is run down and looks alful, but your ideas otherwise look great.

Lots of great ideas presented to beautify and engage! Love the concept of more street space for dining around wild saffron. Artworks look inviting.
I think it will be great to see the end of the horrid green wheelie bins down the Main Street but I wonder if any consideration has been given to incorporating recycling and organic waste. To present Clare as an environmentally aware and conscious town would be a huge draw card. This could further be developed into ideas such as community planting/garden, community composting etc. This is a huge market to be tapped into (with the benefit of being good for the environment too!)
Please please please put a recycling bin in front of the post office!!!!!
